Ghost Rider

Bill Redshaw’s paintings describe Flora and Fauna, and record place and thought. Based in Brighton, he scavenges for colours and textures for play. The sea or sky become elements of print. Pictures from books are appropriated as characters to fill a new world. Physical trinkets are celebrated, highlighting a thing’s history of creative use/uselessness. Experimental materials and liquids combine with traditional media like oils. Separating, muddying, or crusting, these details mimic aspects of Nature. Their imaginary landscapes are ‘pruned’ to reveal ‘dot-to-dot’ figurations from pattern.
