Last Year Was a Long Day

Noah Mashiak (b. 1999) is an American artist living in London. He holds a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design and an MA from the Royal College of Art. As of this year, he has completed his first curatorial project, collaborating in a group show exhibiting contemporary painters.

His work consists of process-oriented abstract paintings defined by their accumulative layers. Through intensive linework and obfuscated collage arise images both familiar yet unrecognisable. Merging ruminations on personal experience with imagery of an unfamiliar world to create scenes that are ambiguous and removed from their original context. These subjects cater to the free-associative nature of the mind while exploring evolving imagery related to the natural world, biomorphism, and the entheogenic experience.
