Ana Melo (b. 1985) is a Portuguese artist who has just moved back to Lisbon after 14 years living in London.  Ana is mainly a self taught artist, having briefly gone to Chelsea College of Arts, just to find out it was life outside art college that stimulated and inspired her to make art.  She has worked as a therapist for many years and for her art and therapy are extremely intricate practices. It was her work as a therapist that pushed her to start making art and, in turn, the process of making art still functions as her own therapy. With her work she aims at making the viewers feel less lonely and ashamed of the ‘ not so nice’ aspects of one's life. In a society where most people constantly feel restrained, Ana would like her work to make everyone who sees it,  feel more included and accepted.
